Knit Me A Blanket!

The common misconception of knitting is an old lady sitting in a rocking chair. Well, I would like to change that idea and turn it into a bunch of crazy college kids sitting on a bed with a bag of yarn to their left and half-finished blankets on their laps.

hooksandnooks: I crocheted a couple of scarves recently using the half double crochet. The pattern is half double crochet 1, chain 1, skip the next stich, half double crochet 1, chain 1, skip the next stitch, etc, etc. It is pretty both in the round and in rows. Perfect for quick and easy scarves: infinity and regular. To crochet a half-double: 1. yarn over 2 insert hook into stitch (still with that yarn on the hook) 3. yarn over and pull string through stitch 4. Yarn over and pull yarn through all three loops on hook.

here is your getting-started guide, RB! and also anyone else who wants to learn to knit. i reckon it’ll take you about an hour to get going. how long it takes to finish the scarf depends on how long you want it and how fancy you get, but i reckon you’re looking at twenty or thirty hours of work…
